Sushi / Italy
Sushi is really popular in Italy. Clearly there is a much bigger demand for sushi restaurants in Italy than there is in the UK. Most cities in Italy have many sushi restaurants. Many are part of big chain operations but also there is a huge number of independent sushi restaurants. Obviously sushi is Japanese but you will find most of the staff working in sushi restaurants and the restaurant owners themselves in Italy are actually Chinese. If you can find a sushi restaurant that is run and operated by Japanese people then often you can expect to pay more. There are excellent examples of sushi restaurants all over the country, from Rome up into the north near Milan. My favourite sushi restaurant at the moment is in Dalmine near Bergamo. One important thing to remember or at least note, is that most sushi restaurants in Italy operate an all you can eat policy. So you will pay perhaps €25 for dinner and you can keep ordering until you are full and satisfied which is excellent. This way of working offers great value for money and if you are really hungry you can leave fully satisfied!
