LE FORNACI – BOAT / JET SKI LAUNCHING
It can be really difficult to find somewhere to launch a small boat or jet ski on Lake Garda. There are many public launching areas, certainly around the south of the lake that are often unusable. Generally this is because the water level can be so low compared to previous years and some of the ends of the launching ramps don’t even make it to the water. The most frequent places that we have successfully launched have been on the south of the lake near Sirmione. Le Fornaci is a little diamond. There is a fantastic cafe, parking and a crazy small boat launching ramp. If you were going with a big boat this will be a no-go. There is a very tight bend to get into the car park to start with, although we have made this tight bend with a jet ski and a very large van. Just before you get to the area itself there is a busy tourist area with many shops, places to grab an ice cream and also a Lidl supermarket to grab your supplies for the day. Obviously if you have something like a Fiat Panda 4×4 van, launching boats on a ramp like this is very easy. We took a safe option by adding a tow rope or two in between the vehicle and the trailer. We managed really well and we had good parking for the vehicle and also somewhere to leave the trailer for the day. We were then free to explore the lake or at least the southern part and have an excellent time. I would recommend taking your boat or indeed hiring a boat on the lake for an absolutely stunning day out during the summer months.
